Microsoft has released a new preview build for Windows 11. Among other things, this allows the task manager to be started again via the taskbar.

With the release of Windows 11, Microsoft made numerous changes to the operating system. Two things in particular were visible at first glance: rounded window corners and a simplified and centered taskbar. With the freshly released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25211, this is now taking another step towards the functionality in Windows 10.

UI updates for Windows 11

Right-clicking on the taskbar in Windows 10 can be used to perform numerous actions, whereas in Windows 11 only the corresponding settings could be called up here. Starting with Insider Preview Build 25211, the task manager should also be able to be started again, so that you don’t have to use the search bar or the corresponding key combination.

Apart from this innovation, there are adjustments to the user interface with the new build. In addition to the update for the taskbar, for example, there is talk of freely sortable system tray icons. Also, Microsoft has reportedly overhauled the widgets, and the task manager now looks a little different than before.

With a view to further changes, Microsoft intends to prevent future programs from being uninstalled on which other programs are based. Steam games are given as an example: These must now apparently be removed before Steam itself. In addition, the preview build also offers various bug fixes and a revised snipping tool. This should now offer a function for automatically saving screenshots.

As usual, the features in Insider Preview Build 25211 are not final. Initially, these will be tested by users in Microsoft’s dev channel, and depending on the feedback, there may still be adjustments. If you don’t want to play as a beta tester, you’ll have to wait a bit for the final changes.
