WotLK Classic: Players farm 50,000 honor in 30 minutes - PvP completely ruined

An exploit in the PvP battleground “Thousand Winters” has massive consequences for WoW WotLK Classic. There is almost infinite honor.

One of the most popular versions of World of Warcraft is available again with Wrath of the Lich King Classic. But there are really serious problems with the PvP battlefield “Thousand Winters”. Players could farm almost infinite honor here. The culprit is a tiny detail that Blizzard overlooked: an otherwise unique battle is “spammed” by the characters and provides plenty of honor.

What did the players do? Wintergrasp is the major battleground in Wrath of the Lich King Classic. Every 3 hours, players can log in for 30 minutes to take part in this battle. This is actually an epic match spanning many minutes, with one side running into a fortress and slowly gaining siege engines while the defenders try to hold off the attackers.

The catch: During these 30 minutes you can register for the battle an infinite number of times if you complete a game quickly. So as long as it falls within the time window of this half hour, you can theoretically complete 3, 4 or even 5 battles.

How did that work? After players discovered that they could register for as many matches as they wanted in 30 minutes, a meta quickly took hold. The “defenders” just immediately rush out of the fortress into the arms of the attackers.

The attackers quickly receive the necessary buffs to then immediately attack with the powerful siege engines. There is almost no resistance, so the attackers win in just under 5 minutes, which is around 10,000 honor and some Wintergrasp Tokens.

Afterwards, the players quickly log back in and repeat the battle. The defenders give up almost immediately and strengthen the attackers in order to cram as many matches as possible into the 30 minutes. Almost 5 matches are possible, which corresponds to 50,000 honor.

Community is angry: The players are extremely disappointed by this incident. It’s quite a problem that some characters now own pretty much all the gear that honor can buy. This gives these players a massive advantage over their peers who haven’t taken advantage of this “exploit”. However, it’s also debatable whether it can even be called an exploit – after all, it’s not the players’ fault that you can log into Wintergrasp without interruption.

In any case, it is clear that the characters who are already level 80 will benefit from it. Because even if you can play Wintergrasp from level 71, you can only spend the honor meaningfully on equipment at level 80. Anyone who has leveled up quickly could now equip themselves with very strong equipment.

It will also be exciting to see how Blizzard deals with this problem. Because the more time passes, the more characters have enriched themselves with the honor and the associated equipment. It remains to be seen whether sanctions will follow, the honor and equipment collected will be removed, or whether one will simply tolerate that a character is now more or less “finished” in terms of PvP.

Did you notice this exploit? Are you bathing in honor right now? Or wouldn’t you take advantage of that so as not to spoil the fun of the game?
