Highlight recent changes

Overwatch 2 is almost here! The second part of the team shooter appears this Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 9 p.m. CEST worldwide. There are a few things you should know before the official release.

The important things first: Due to the F2P conversion, SMS account protection is required to play this game (with a fixed number, prepaid does not count)! So read this Blizzard blog carefully and follow the steps outlined there to prepare your account so you can jump into the game as soon as it comes out!

To celebrate the release of Overwatch 2, Blizzard is giving away over Twitch Drops the legendary skin Sukajan for Kiriko, the Razor Sharp spray for Kiriko, and a donut gun charm! As a reminder, with the introduction of cross-platform progression, you’ll unlock these perks once and then use them on your account on any platform you choose to play. For more information on how to participate and activate Twitch Drops, visit this blog on the official website.

Prior to release, Overwatch’s servers will be briefly disabled

Publishing a video game is no easy exercise! For Overwatch 2 the developers have to disable the current version of Overwatch on October 3rd at approximately 18:00 CEST. That means October 2nd is the last full day you can play the original Overwatch! You can find more current news, specials and videos about Overwatch 2 on Buffed.de and of course on our Overwatch 2 topic page. We are excited about the new era of Overwatch and wish you lots of fun gaming!
