Cyberpunk 2 is coming: CD Projekt is working on a sequel
CD Projekt Red today announced their strategy and plans for the future. Among other things, the company wants to expand its existing franchises more and more, with new games, new series and films, as well as new comics and books. Additionally, CD Projekt Red wants to release new multiplayer modes for their new games, to enrich the single player experienceand so much more.
Cyberpunk 2077 sequel officially announced
While that’s all pretty nice, what’s probably more interesting is that the company doesn’t just want to continue expanding The Witcher, with a new game already confirmed, but also its cyberpunk universe. Cyberpunk 2077 has recently had massive success, probably triggered by the popularity of the new Netflix series Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Not only will the title receive a new story DLC called Phantom Liberty next year, CDPR has also now announced a successor to Cyberpunk 2077.
The sequel is currently known as Project Orion. The title aims to “prove the full power and potential of the cyberpunk universe”. In order for Project Orion to be able to meet these expectations, CDPR a brand new studio in Boston, to take full advantage of the numerous talents in the United States. The new studio is to take over the development of the cyberpunk successor together with their studio in Vancouver.
So far, in terms of cyberpunk, this is all CD Projekt Red planned for the franchise. However, we are always excited to see how the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 will look (buy now €49.90) will look like this, and of course whether Phantom Liberty can live up to the current success of the game. We can also look forward to more series, films and books about the cyberpunk universe in the future.
