How do I download Overwatch 2? As a newcomer, you must first create an account on Battle.net. To activate SMS account protection, you need to add a valid mobile phone number. After that, nothing stands in the way of the download (as soon as Overwatch 2 is launched).

Under the item “Release checklist for new players” you will find on the official Overwatch site detailed instructions with all important links for registration.

What heroes are there? A total of 35 heroes will be available to you at the release of Overwatch 2.

The heroes are divided into 3 different roles, which in turn fulfill different functions within the team:

  • tank
  • Damage
  • support

Depending on your play style, certain types of heroes are particularly suitable for you. Tanks tend to go ahead and try to shield damage from the team. The damage heroes are for aggressive players, while supports focus on defense and healing.

What game modes are there in Overwatch 2? The Overwatch official website advises newcomers to play the tutorial first before attempting the game modes. In the main menu you will find the following options:

What are recognition levels? At the end of a match, players can give each other so-called “recognitions” and thus recognize a particularly positive playstyle. You can choose from:

  • Leadership role: for particularly good leaders
  • Teamwork: for team players
  • Fairness: for players with a positive attitude

Players start out with Recognition Level 1. Each Recognition you receive affects your Recognition Level. You can go up to level 5 this way. If you have a higher recognition level, this can in turn have a positive effect on your group search.

What platforms can I play Overwatch 2 on? You can play the hero shooter across multiple platforms. Available to you are: PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC. Crossplay across different platforms is possible.
