news
CD Projekt RED, the Polish developer studio behind The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077, recently shared its plans for the future with the world. These include not just one new witcher trilogyalready im March 2022 was announced for the first time. Also a new cyberpunk project as well as a whole new brand are in progress.
in one Twitter post CD Projekt shows exactly which projects are currently being developed under which working title. On the one hand there would be “ProjectPolaris“, which will be the prelude to the new Witcher saga.
“Project Orion” on the other hand will be the next game from the “Cyberpunk 2077“-universe, while”Project Hadar” will be a whole new brand independent of the two successful franchises.
More games from other studios
In addition to these three projects, which are to be developed entirely by CD Projekt RED itself, we can expect even more games from other studios. On the one hand there would be the “innovative” Witcher game “Project Sirius“, which is to come from the American studio The Molasses Flood.
“Canis Majoris” will also be set in the world of The Witcher and will be developed by another, as yet unnamed, studio. It is a full-fledged, story-driven, open-world role-playing game.
Most of these projects are currently in an early planning or design phase. Only the new Witcher trilogy from CD Projekt itself could already be ready to receive more information or maybe even a trailer soon.
When is Witcher 4 coming out?
The new Witcher saga will also consist of three parts and will be set in a time frame of six years (after publication of the first part) to be released. Nothing more is known about it, except that we probably won’t be playing Geralt of Rivia again. In addition, the Red Engine is no longer used for development, but the Unreal Engine 5.
It will also be exciting to see exactly what is behind Project Hadar. It is the first major project that does not rely on any pre-existing franchise. After CD Projekt has already ventured into fantasy and science fiction/cyberpunk, it could be a very new setting give.
CD Projekt CEO resigns
In the course of the joyful announcement of new games, there was one more piece of information. The previous CEO of CD Projekt, Marcin Iwinskiwill step down from his post by the end of the year.
He founded the studio together with Michał Kiciński in 2010 and made it what it is today. The board of directors of the company should take over most of the tasks after his resignation. However, Iwiński is not completely out of sight, because he is subsequently aiming for the post of chairman of the supervisory board.
