Fans explain why searching for "optimal group" in WotLK Classic is stupid

Many fans of WoW Classic are currently complaining about a few players in Wrath of the Lich King who are annoying with their elitist behavior. The elite players only want the best of the best – and they miss out on the fun of the game.

This is the discussion: Wrath of the Lich King, the new expansion of WoW Classic, has been playable since September 27th. WotLK raises the maximum level to 80 and brings a number of new features. You can read more about the content of WotLK Classic in our special.

Shortly after the release, all players first have to fight their way through the level areas and farm better equipment in the new dungeons in order to be able to participate in the endgame. A few take this project a bit too seriously:

The rush to WotLK Classic was enormous. We were on the first ship to Northrend:

Hundreds of players are crammed onto a boat for the release of WotLK Classic and I’m right in the middle of it

In the corresponding post on reddit, the user Stuckatwork271 explains: “It’s just a game, it’s really not that serious.” In his experience report, he describes how he himself came across a player for whom the creator was not good enough.

A healer left the dungeon squad because Stuckatwork271, as a tank, had fewer hit points than he did. A one-sided argument followed with a number of insults from the person who left the group, as the user explains.

In the end, however, the tank was able to complete the dungeon with a new healer, while the former group member continued to happily insult him from Dalaran.

“Some search all day instead of just trying”

The discussion was quickly picked up with over 1,100 comments from other players sharing similar experiences. Such behavior is completely stupid. The user Barbz182 told:

I once saw a guy spam Westfall chat for almost 2 hours looking for level 21+ players for the Deadmines. He turned down my 19 warrior so I found another group and shut down the whole damn thing. When I came out he was still looking. His reason: It goes faster with higher-level players and he doesn’t want to ‘carry’.

The comment received a lot of encouragement. Other users explain that there are players who would rather waste all day looking for an optimal group than try a suboptimal setup – and then finish earlier.

The user ecountltd about told that he was in Azjol-Nerub with a new tank. After a wipe due to a mistake, they got through without further problems: “I’m sure many others would have left or would have said ‘Fuck you’ to the 70’s tank. But it worked.”

With over 3,200 upvotes, the thread on reddit is currently one of the largest in the WoW Classic subreddit, with the reference that there is a person behind every player. One should also behave humanely and not immediately become insulting.

Especially in games like World of Warcraft there are a lot of people who don’t have the time to always be among the best due to working hours and other commitments like family. But not everyone has to have this claim, as some players have already noticed:

Player complains: Leveling in WotLK Classic is harder than expected – “How do people do it?”
