The scene for fighting games will have several long-standing exponents such as Capcom and Bandai Namco revealing news about Street Fighter 6 Y Tekken-8, respectively. However, another developer who hasn’t shown anything is NetherRealm Studios. The developer last confirmed that there were no announcements at Evo 2022, and it looks like the lack of news will carry over for the foreseeable future.

Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat, stated in a new tweet that for now he will focus on the 30th anniversary of his flagship saga, and that a new game will be announced in due course.

“We know many of you are excited about the upcoming NRS game announcement and it will happen in due course. But first, it’s all about 30 years of Mortal Kombat. That is what we are going to celebrate and focus on. Our next game announcement will be separate from MK30.”

“MK30”, it is obviously the 30th anniversary Mortal Kombatwith the first game released on October 8, 1992. So an announcement could be happening later this week, but it won’t be for a new game, as Boon indicated in his tweet.

As for the rumored one Mortal Kombat 12, it we may have to wait a little longer.
