PCGH Extreme – Clean up the forum structure: Your opinion counts

PCGH Extreme internal: We are looking for moderators - apply now

from Thilo Bayer
The current season may not be the right time for spring cleaning, but actually every month is good for a clean-up campaign. Help us with your opinion.

For many years, PCGH has had its own news comment sub-forum for almost every topic (graphics cards, processors, shooters) – there are almost 30 of them. The idea behind it was originally to keep the topics together. So that threads on graphics cards that are initiated by users are also relatively close to threads that are created by the news authors. Some of the news threads also ran directly into a sub-forum, as with Battlefield. At some point, however, this led to an imbalance and in some cases to the sub-forums being flooded. Here we have already taken countermeasures and cleaned up. But that was only a first step.

The games area should be revised as an example so that we have a showcase. But only, when the majority has an opinion on it. In a small room, such decisions are not always the best. Would you like to keep it this way? as until now? A sub-forum for news threads for each game genre? Or do you think it makes sense that there is only one (!) general news thread area for games, where all game news simply go, for example under “Other”? Then we save ourselves six sub-forums.

Or do you generally want all (!) automatic news threads to run in a sub-forum, for example as “Redaktions-News” directly at the top of the “Community Center”? That would of course be the most radical of all measures.

There is one bonus question about the games section: Basically, only PC games are included here. Should it stay like this? Or should console games also take place there? Should there be a separate area for this, separated by Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo? Thank you for participating in the quick poll.
