PlayStation 5: First-Party Games With Live Service Coming Simultaneously To PC

Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer pleased with acquisition progress

Sony plans to release some first-party live service games for PlayStation 5 simultaneously on PC.

In the future, Sony will be focusing on live service games, among other things. In addition, the takeover of Bungie was only completed in July. The developer forge is known for its live service in Destiny 2, so its expertise in this area will also be implemented for Playstation games.

As Sony revealed, some of the first-party games for PlayStation will also appear simultaneously on PC in the future.

PlayStation studio boss Hermen Hulst told YouTuber Julien Chièze that the release of first-party games on PlayStation and PC will take at least a year.

In live service games, on the other hand, things are different. There will be an exception there. Because to be able to build a strong community for live service games, you would release them for console and PC at the same time.

“I think that in the future we will see at least a year between releases on the PlayStation and the PC platform – possibly excluding live service games. Live service games are a bit different because you want to have a really strong community that engages as soon as you go live. So in the case of our live service offerings, we could be working day and night with the PC and the PlayStation platform.”
