The chilling Netflix hit Dahmer has set a new record
The true crime hit Dahmer on Netflix captivates viewers worldwide and has set a new record with its release on the streaming service. Because not a single Netflix production has been watched as much as Dahmer in the release week.
Disturbing and therefore a mega hit: The true crime series Dahmer, about one of the most notorious serial killers in US history and the failure of the police, has been available exclusively for Netflix subscribers since the end of September 2022 and has set a huge record with the release that makes even high-flyers like Red Notice and Squid Game look old: Dahmer was watched more than any other Netflix production in the first week after release. Shown in numbers: The scary series was streamed for a monumental 196.2 hours within the first few days!
Dahmer vs. Stranger Things & Co.
Technically, Dahmer is only surpassed by two other series: Stranger Things: Season 4 with 286.8 million hours and Money Heist: Season 5 with 201.9 million hours. However, these productions were able to build hype over several seasons and secure a loyal fan base as well as latecomers. Dahmer achieved great things from the start, so to speak.
Dahmer’s record has a “but”
As an aside, we would like to emphasize: Sure, Dahmer has accumulated more hours than Red Notice – but the latter is also just a film, so comparing streamed time is a type of evaluation that is in Dahmer’s favour. And squid games? The first week was slow for the Korean hit with 63.2 million hours – but we’ll just leave the 1.65 billion hours in the first four weeks as they are. Simply that way. The fact remains that the series got off to a great start that is second to none.
