After 4,386 hours, a Twitch streamer beats the "unbeatable" level in Super Mario Maker

The creator of the hardest Mario level ever nibbled at his work in Super Mario Maker for more than 4,000 hours. Now the twitch streamer ChainCHomBraden has proven: It can be done.

Many of you probably still remember the “Super Mario” games from your youth. These were often the beginnings of gaming and sometimes quite crisp back then. But there is a sworn community of Mario fans who dismiss the official levels as far too easy and instead create even harder variants in “Super Mario Maker”. Difficulty here ranges from Kindergarten Mode to Agony – and then there’s one level that beats all the others.

We’re talking about “Trials of Death”, probably the hardest Mario map ever.

The creator of the map “ChainChompBraden” built the level in 2016 and since then has been trying to prove that you can really successfully complete the map. He dedicated almost 6 years to this task – or a playing time of 4,386 hours.

What’s so special about it? If you are now wondering what is so special about mastering a self-built level, you should simply take a look at the integrated Twitch video. Then you quickly get a sense of just how wacky the Trials of Death actually is and what an achievement it is to complete this level:

Because the Trials of Death do not allow a single mistake and not only require perfect knowledge of the level, but also of all Mario mechanics. In some places you have to use three co-op tanks at the same time in order to make further jumps in the air. However, this only works if you fire the tanks in the perfect fraction of a second, so that they are exactly on the frame where you need them to continue the jump.

ChainChompBraiden hasn’t quite processed its own success even after days – but that’s hardly surprising when you’ve devoted over 4,000 hours to a task and can finally complete it.

Are you ready to try the hard Super Mario Maker levels? Or do you deliberately keep your hands off something like that to avoid frustration?

Mario fans can be happy, by the way, because soon a film will be in the cinemas.
