Electronic Arts: New EA App available for Windows – Origin will be discontinued

Origin has been EA’s launcher on PC for over a decade, but is set to be retired this year. New launcher replaced on Windows Origin
Electronic Arts announced that the open beta phase of the EA app has ended. The new launcher is said to be the company’s fastest and slimmest PC client to date. The optimized design should make it easier to find games and other content. With automatic game downloads and background updates, games should also be ready to play immediately.
As stated by Electronic Arts, the transition from Origin to the new EA app has been made to be as easy as possible. Users using Origin on Windows will soon receive an invitation to the new launcher. All games and content, including those already installed, should then be automatically transferred to the new launcher. The local saves and those saved in the cloud should also be retained. This should allow players to continue playing where they left off even when switching to the new EA App.
The friends list will also move to the new EA launcher. In addition, your own EA account can be connected to other platforms and services, such as Steam, Xbox and Playstation. Once connected, you can see what your friends are up to on all platforms and play directly together. The EA App is currently only available for Windows. However, players on macOS can still use Origin.
