Nvidia's RTX 4090 requires a power supply with 850 W, depending on the manufacturer it can be even higher

If you’re interested in Nvidia’s new GeForce RTX 4090, you’ll want to make sure your PC is ready for it.

As a minimum requirement for the in-house Founders Edition, Nvidia specifies a power supply with 850 watts.

It goes even higher

And that’s really only the minimum in this case, because more is possible, depending on the manufacturer.

ASUS and ZOTAC recommend at least a system power of 1,000 watts for various models of the RTX 490. With the RTX 4090 GameRock and GameRock OC from Palit and the RTX 4090 Phantom GS from Gainward, it’s even 1,200 watts!

Twitter user harukaze5719 summarized the different models in an overview:

The sometimes higher requirements are of course dependent on different cooling solutions, overclocking and additional lighting, in any case it is a decent step up.

This is especially true in view of the current energy crisis and rising prices.
