Overwatch 2: What to do in the queue… OW2 is trending on Pornhub
The players had to wait a long time for Overwatch 2 and accordingly many players are pushing for the release on the servers. Some probably used the time in the queues to consume content of a different kind. Because just in time for the release, Overwatch 2 was trending in search queries on Pornhub.
After endless months of waiting, Overwatch 2 finally celebrated its release on October 4th, 2022. After the hype had gradually built up in the weeks before, it was hardly surprising that the servers went to their knees right from the start. All in all, it was a rocky start for the second part of Blizzard’s team shooter. Various bugs, missing heroes, DDoS attacks and the associated queues caused displeasure among the players. Nevertheless, given the immense number of players, it should be considered a success at Blizzard. And on other websites, Overwatch 2 makes the cash register ring.
Because at the same time as the hero shooter sequel was released, the associated search queries on pages that are not directly related to the game itself also increased. The search term “Overwatch 2” made it to eighth place in the search trends on Pornhub. Individual heroes also advanced far in the search queries. D.Va even reached fourth place in the trend list.
Rule 34 and stuff…
Popular video game heroines popping up on sites like Pornhub shouldn’t come as a surprise by now. The adult content from Tracer and Co. has enjoyed consistently high popularity over the past few years, when not much new has happened in Overwatch.
The combination of the release of Overwatch 2 and three new heroines now caused a new, massive high in the popularity of this hardly licensed content. In the past, new heroines like Brigitte or Ashe have regularly made it into the search trends.
The extent to which the long queues fueled this cannot of course be determined. But if you sit and wait on your home PC or couch (after all, Overwatch 2 offers crossplay), you have time to “enjoy” yourself in a different way… with Discord or Teamspeak hopefully being muted.
