ROCCAT Syn Max Air Wireless Review

The ranges of wireless gaming headsets have just received another new opponent that seeks to impose itself with its versatility and functions for demanding users. Our friends at ROCCAT have put the wireless headsets in our hands Syn Max Air and in the following paragraphs as always I tell you all my experience.

There are many, wireless headsets as well but all (at least the ones I’ve tried) have that feature that doesn’t add much value to it but at the same time makes it just perfect for our needs. Being able to stand in the kitchen while gaming or not having all the wiring on top of you is a great thing these days.

The range of premium products from ROCCAT now they have a new player on the board. This headset becomes a premium product when it combines a number of features that generally mean you have everything in one place at a fairly affordable price. In addition obviously to the construction material and the beauty in terms of design these present.

This is my first time trying a product ROCCAT First impression as soon as I took it out of the box I could notice the difference in terms of other products that have passed through my hand. The most important thing here has been the construction material, these have a mixture of plastic and aluminum to guarantee durability but at the same time not feel that uncomfortable weight on our ears. Compared to other brands, the weight of these headsets is quite balanced without thinking too much about it, these are also quite comfortable for those of us who use glasses. Believe me that pressure on the head is not comfortable for long hours of use.

On the other hand, these have quite a voluptuous design for my taste in the ears. Although they hold quite well and help a lot with noise cancellation, these headsets have a slightly horizontal design, making the contour of your head look somewhat irregular. This is an individual taste because it doesn’t really matter what the headset looks like on your head if you really have quality audio.

During several hours of gaming and continuous use at no time did I feel any kind of discomfort in general. The covers on the earmuffs are quite soft and are made of memory foam, which means that after several minutes it adapts to the sides without causing anything that can bring the experience after a while. The headset casing itself is made of lightweight aluminum so we can forget about feeling that heavy weight on us.

Something that does bother me at certain times is the way to adjust the headband on the head. out of habit (and the dimensions of my head) I always use the headbands to the maximum and then adjust as I feel comfortable. Unfortunately during many cases it was not possible for me to adjust it to my perfect size since somehow I felt that the headsets were going to fall off if I moved a lot, however if I adjusted them enough I could feel how they squeezed causing discomfort.

If we talk a little about the hearing quality that these headsets have here, we can say that the waters are divided and by a lot. The immersive technology with 3D audio that these headsets have is unique, you can literally feel the difference compared to other brands and without throwing anyone the dirt when a person with long hours of daily use with a headset (like me) feels the difference when using another one it is because the improvement is literally felt.

The speakers are 50mm with mononuclear technology that offer excellent audio quality together with the well-known Turtle Beach audio technology that, if you are a gamer of yesteryear, you will know what I am talking about. With the help of software ROCCAT Swarm you can configure audio options from music, movies and obviously a vast catalog of options for gaming. The difference is remarkable and in some long games in Call of Duty: Warzone, Overwatch 2, PUBG: Battlegrounds, apex legendsamong other competitive games it was quite easy for me to differentiate not only the steps of my enemies left or right but also up or down.

The options are quite simple to modify and customize to our liking for each game. We cannot leave aside another famous technology of Turtle Beach call Superhuman Hearing. This has really exceeded expectations as a user and competitive player that I am. Having the facility to put options to better hear the location of the shots is something extremely spectacular or simply give a boost to the sound of the steps. It’s as if the configurations I really need are just a click away on my PC.

This headset is somewhat different since it comes with a charging base that promises to charge our headset quite quickly and at the same time offer us the function of a transmitter for our wireless system. On the other hand, this base has a very interesting RGB system since it can be combined with all the other devices in a pretty coquettish way for our desktop.

This transmitter or charging base offers us about 50 feet of distance, something that I have verified several times. Other devices offer 60 feet but lose quality automatically if you move back a little from the starting position. The truth is that this is a very interesting plus in the headset, although it can also be charged directly to a USB-C, it is always good to put the headset in a safe place and that it will obviously receive the necessary (and fast) charge. what do we need.

Wireless headsets that offer two connection options are becoming fashionable lately. In this case, we have a direct connection to the PC to use the headset, but it also comes with a Bluetooth 5.1 connection so that we can connect it to our cell phone, for example, and mix calls without having to remove the headset. This is a rather striking option but I have always said that it is often unnecessary in some cases.

As always on the left side we have the buttons and to my surprise they are quite simple. A power button for the headset in general, the contact connection for the charging base and the USB-C port on the bottom. In the same left ear is the microphone that we can easily remove and even place a small cover on it that helps to hide it a bit.

On the right side we simply have the button to turn on and configure the second connection (Bluetooth 5.1) in case we need it. Something interesting here is that the microphone has a fairly standard sound, thus becoming somewhat more acceptable in terms of other brands where the quality of the microphone is minimal. For the general price of this headset ($249.99), this option is super comfortable since we are not looking for a microphone with professional audio, but we do want our friends to hear us clearly.

At the compatibility level, the installation was quite simple and updating its internal firmware for better performance is quite a challenge since it takes a long time but it is obvious due to the technologies included. The headset is compatible with PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

In conclusion

I must admit that this is a complete headset in many facets but that in some ways in others it could have some things in terms of design. The wireless headsets Syn Max Air they are for gamers who seek quality over anything. Its light weight and speaker quality make you feel like you’re using something absolutely superior. The pads on it are the most comfortable I’ve had on my ears to date and they do an excellent mix with RGB in sync with the other ROCCAT peripherals. However, it may be a bit rough on your initial setup as there are some bugs with the software somehow. ROCCAT Swarm plus it seems to need a bit more incorporation. This headset is still a premium product with many things to offer and a lot of technology like Superhuman Hearing that left me speechless even when listening to music.
