PS5 shipments to the US increase by 400 percent ahead of the holiday season

PlayStation 5 shipments to the US have seen a significant jump up recently and especially compared to 2021.

According to MST Financial analyst David Gibson, September saw a 400 percent year-over-year increase in shipments.

Preparing for God of War and Christmas

Gibson assumes that these deliveries are intended on the one hand for availability for the Christmas business. A part should probably come to the stores for the launch of God of War Ragnarök.

Ragnarök is PlayStation’s next big first-party title, so the company may be keen to launch more PS5 consoles to go along with it.

More on the subject:

Since the launch, the PlayStation 5 has remained difficult to obtain, but the increased delivery volumes give hope that the situation with bottlenecks in the supply of components is improving.

Recently it was also said that Sony wanted to produce around two million copies of PlayStation VR2 for release in early 2023.

Of course, the 400 percent only refers to the US market. Concrete comparative figures are not currently available, but it is to be hoped that the situation will improve in other regions as well.
