Earn gold, reputation, and emblems from quests

Once you’ve reached max level, your first priority should be completing your remaining quests. Don’t worry, no one is asking you to do everything at once. Whenever you have time and desire, you can work through a few quests. This is particularly lucrative in WotLK as you get additional rewards for completing quests.

Gold – If you complete a quest at the maximum level, the experience points that you would have received during the leveling phase will be converted into gold. Depending on how many quests you have left, you can earn quite a lot of gold this way. The following applies: the higher the level of the quests, the more gold there is as a reward. You will earn more in higher tier areas like Icecrown or Storm Peaks than in Borean Tundra. For example, if you only complete all quests in Icecrown at level 80, you’ll easily get 2000-2500 gold.

Emblems – Another important addition to WotLK is that you can obtain Emblems of Heroism for completing certain quests. These function as a currency that can be used to purchase powerful epic gear or heirlooms, much like Insignia of Justice from The Burning Crusade.

Daily Quests – Another feature that you may already know from The Burning Crusade or modern WoW are the daily quests. There’s plenty of that in Wrath of the Lichking as well. At the beginning you should only concentrate on the most important ones in order to gain an exalted reputation with certain factions as quickly as possible.

Tabards give you additional reputation

As in every expansion, there are also powerful reputation rewards in WotLK. Above all, focus here on the unique enchantments that you can obtain from Revered reputation. There are also epic rewards, but you will replace them relatively quickly.

quests- The basis of any reputation gain is completing quests. Once you’ve reached max level, most factions in the frozen north should be friendly to you. Depending on which areas you visited while leveling, there may still be factions that you have yet to unlock. For example, the “Knights of the Ebon Blade” only become available once you’ve quested in Icecrown.

tabards – The 4 largest factions, the Kirin Tor, the Argent Crusade, the Knights of the Ebon Blade and the Wyrmrest Pact, offer you the option of buying a tabard for 1 gold from the respective quartermaster as of friendly reputation. If you equip one of these items, you will gain a higher level in normal dungeons and reputation for the respective faction in heroic dungeons. So you should always have a faction tabard equipped.

Daily Quests – You should focus here on those factions that don’t offer an option to purchase a tabard. First and foremost, therefore, are the Sons of Hodir, native to the Storm Peaks. At Revered and Exalted reputation levels, you can purchase powerful shoulder enchantments here. The special thing about it: The enchantments are tied to your account, which means that you only have to farm the reputation with one character. Once you are Exalted, you can send the enchantments to all of your other characters. This even works across server boundaries!

In general, healers should prioritize the Wyrmrest Pact because that’s where the appropriate head enchantment is. Melee fighters and hunters will find what they are looking for with the Knights of the Black Blade. Tanks find their enchantment in the Argent Crusade and all casters in the Kirin Tor.

Heroic Dungeons – don’t forget the daily quests

dungeons Unlike in Burning Crusade, you no longer need keys to enter heroic dungeons. The only exception is the Violet Hold. You get the key you need for this at the end of a small quest line that begins with Rhonin, the leader of the Kirin Tor. In a pinch, a group member can also open the door for you, provided they have already completed the quest and have the key. Villains also have the opportunity to pick the lock.

So grab 4 friends, go with your guild, or use the new find-a-group tool. You can tackle the dungeons that give you the most upgrades, or complete as many dungeons as possible. The more heroic dungeons you do, the more emblems you get as a reward. That is why the so-called “world tours”, in which all available dungeons are run through one after the other, are very popular.

We also recommend completing the daily dungeon quests. This will give you additional emblems and reputation tokens of your choice.

PvP & Arena – This is how you get easy honor

If you’re looking for quick upgrades, then a bit of PvP might be worth your while. Necklaces, rings, jewellery, bracers and capes beckon as rewards. All of these items only require honor points. Arena points and rating are not required for this. Luckily, the honor grind is a lot less tiring than it was in The Burning Crusade, as you get far more honor as a battlefield reward on average.

Daily PvP Quest – Bonus honor and arena points are awarded daily for successfully completing a specific battlefield that changes daily. You can accept the quest in Stormwind, for example.

Random battlefield – You can sign up for Battlegrounds from anywhere via the PvP tab. You will also find there the option to complete a random battlefield. Additional honor points and 25 arena points beckon as a reward.

Wintergrasp – Every 3 hours you can participate in an epic battle with siege weapons from Dalaran or Wintergrasp. You should definitely take advantage of this opportunity, because there are a lot of honor points as a reward. Additionally, there are Wintergrasp Tokens that can be used to purchase epic head and foot armor, heirlooms, and gems.

Archavon’s Chamber – This mini-raid is available whenever someone from your faction has won the Battle of Wintergrasp. Currently there is only one boss, but with each content phase another one is added. Combat is relatively simple and can be played in 10-player or 25-player mode. The rewards are animal or arena set items from the current season or the current raid.

Professions – What is worthwhile and what you should avoid

In Wrath of the Lich King, you can also craft powerful items through your professions or earn lots of gold. Reaching level 440 is enough for most professions. The final levels are mostly locked behind expensive recipes. These are not really worth it at the moment, so you can take your time with them.

However, refrain from spending a lot of gold on crafted items right from the start. In terms of item level, these are just as high as rewards from heroic dungeons or 10-man raids. There are some exceptions, but in most cases these are correspondingly expensive.

summary

In Wrath of the Lich, many systems mesh like a well-oiled gear. So you have many options to improve your character. There is something for every type of player and of course you should primarily do what you enjoy. But with a few small tweaks you can achieve a lot: Can’t decide between reputation and gold farming? Questing gives you both!

There is currently no group available for the dungeon of your choice or your friends are still offline? See if Wintergrasp is currently in progress. Maybe the honor is enough to dust off the next epic item.

So always wear a faction tabard when visiting dungeons. Complete any quests you still have open, prioritizing those that will give you reputation with a useful faction. When available, complete the daily quests to gain reputation even faster. Think of Wintergrasp and take part in the epic battle to earn a lot of honor points without much effort.

You should also save yourself expensive items from the action house and rather invest the gold to level up your own professions. If you follow a few tips, you should be ready for Naxxramas in no time!

Now we’re curious: Is your reputation already at Exalted with all factions? Have you defeated Naxxramas yet? Or do you prefer to take it easy? Do you have any other tips you want to share with the community? Tell us in the comments!
