A first beta version of the upcoming Sim update 11 for the Flight Simulator shows up. Client version 1.29.22.0 brings, among other things, AMD’s long-awaited FSR-2 support and of course DLSS 3 from Nvidia.

At the end of September, the Flight Simulator developers released Sim Update 10, including improvements to DirectX 12 and initial DLSS-2 support. The next development step is then the Sim update 11.

What’s inside the SU11?

At least in the beta section of the Flight Simulator forum, the SU11 a first appearance. The release notes for the game client 1.29.22.0 include several changes in graphics rendering. There are 12 other optimizations for DirectX, including GPU memory fragmentation. For the first time, AMD Radeon fans will get the FSR 2 option that was announced in early summer. But that’s not all, because Asobo and Microsoft are known to be working on an integration of DLSS 3 with frame generation (for RTX 40) and also Reflex for RTX graphics cards.

The helicopters and gliders announced for November are also on the list. With the helicopters, work is being done on fine-tuning the flight model, the controls and the assistants. The gliders are also “close to the finish line”. The logic of the tow plane is currently being adjusted and work is being done on fine-tuning the thermals in the simulator.

In addition, an improved atmosphere simulation with an emphasis on thermals is mentioned, live traffic has been updated with various fixes to improve quality of life and the 3D thermal display can be toggled via the weather panel.

Sim update 11 should be scheduled for November. We remember: On November 11th, 2022 the 40th Anniversary Edition of the Flight Simulator will be released, for owners of the game of course free of charge. In this edition, helicopters and gliders are making a comeback – they were last part of a flight simulator in 2006. Another novelty includes the Airbus A-310, which “should work exactly like its real-world counterpart down to the last button”. A total of seven historical planes will be included in the game with the Anniversary Update. It also adds four classic airports – including Chicago’s Meigs Field. There are also 10 glider airfields, a total of 12 new aircraft, 14 helipads and “20 iconic missions from the franchise’s past”.
