How much Final Fantasy 7 is too much? FF7 The First Soldier will be discontinued
The Battle Royale offshoot of the Final Fantasy 7 universe is being retired: on January 11, 2023, the Final Fantasy 7 The First Soldier servers will be shut down forever. Maybe that’s not surprising, because despite all the remasters and remakes for FF7 games, the mobile battle royale never really took off.
In the wake of Final Fantasy 7’s 25th anniversary, the people on the team that oversaw mobile battle royale offshoot The First Soldier announce that the game will shut down in January 2023. The First Soldier? So what is that? As mentioned, this is a Battle Royale for iOS and Android devices that was released in November 2021. The game covers events playing 18 years of Final Fantasy 7. However, they don’t come to the fore so much in everyday combat … as is usually the case with Battle Royales. But the background is that the Shinra Electric Power Company is looking for the first candidates for SOLDIER, and accordingly the “fight to the last man” setting of a battle royale fits.
The First Soldier will be retired on January 11, 2023
Despite the fact that the premise sounds nice, The First Soldier never really took off – after all, there are plenty of other Final Fantasy 7 games that tell more stories and are not only intended for mobile devices. On the official website of The First Soldier announce the makersthat the Shinra credits will be removed from the shop with immediate effect as part of the discontinuation. However, all credits that are in your possession can still be used.
As of November 1, 2022, support for all languages other than English will end. And finally, on January 11, 2023 at 8:00 a.m. our time, the servers will be shut down. Until then, however, there will still be events in the game that are still supported by the developers. “Despite our best efforts to provide you with new and exciting content on a regular basis, we have not been able to offer you the experience that we hoped for and that you all deserve,” the developers at Ateam Inc. explain their decision.
