Google Stadia will soon be discontinued and many players fear for their saves on the cloud platform. So far there is no uniform solution, but at least CD Projekt wants to help Cyberpunk 2077 players.
Google has officially announced the end of the streaming platform Stadia. It’s already over on January 18th and no more video games can be streamed. The news didn’t come as a surprise, but it was relatively short-lived. Many players are now faced with the problem that all the hours they have spent with Stadia could soon fizzle out, because: With the shutdown of the service, the game saves stored in the cloud will also disappear. CD Projekt now offers a solution for Cyberpunk 2077.
This is how Cyberpunk 2077 Stadia saves can be saved
Cyberpunk 2077is something like the flagship game of Google Stadia. The title appeared alongside PC and consoles and is doing relatively well on the streaming platform. Accordingly, some players have probably been tempted to get the game on Stadia and are now worried about their saves with all the hours spent in Night City. Some publishers like Ubisoft, Bungie and IO Interactive have already promised to take on the topic, and CD Projekt is now following suit with Cyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk 2077 Stadia saves are now compatible with other versions of the game. However, this is not a real cross-save, because a little work is required. For the first step, the program Google Takeout needed:
- Open takeout.google.com.
- In the Create a new export section, click Deselect All and select Stadia. Press “Next Step” to continue.
- Choose your preferred destination and “One time export”. Select file type “.zip” and size “2 GB”. Press “Create Export”.
- Download the export from the destination selected in the previous step.
The archive must then be extracted. The saves can be found in the “…/Takeout/Stadia/GAMING/GAME_SAVE” folder. Each saved game should be saved in its own folder. These must be copied and pasted into the path “%userprofile%Saved GamesCD Projekt RedCyberpunk 2077”.
Now the game can be started in the RED launcher. Simply activate cross-saves here and load the respective Stadia save onto the PC. When saving, the scores are synchronized with the cloud. Now they can even be used on a console (GOG account required).
