Overwatch 2: Blizzard does not plan any immediate balance changes

Overwatch 2 had a few problems at launch, for example with the servers, but Blizzard sees no acute need for action when it comes to game balance.

In a new one blog entry the development studio states that apart from Zarya in Total Mayhem, no immediate, major changes to the game balance are planned.

When is the next balance update coming?

The release of the next major balance update can be expected for the second season.

“While some heroes perform better than others, and there are differences between player levels, we’re glad that overall hero power isn’t far from our goals,” it said.

More Overwatch 2 news:

“Each hero has a win rate between 45% and 55%, and we don’t plan on making any immediate balance changes based on our observations, with the exception of a targeted adjustment to Zarya in Total Mayhem, which should go live with our next major patch on October 25th Instead, our team is planning a series of balance changes for Season 2 that align with our goal of making the game feel balanced and fair overall, while also giving each season its own distinct identity.”

“We will continue to monitor hero performance and listen to player feedback before committing to specific balance changes for Season 2.”

Heroes like D.Va and Genji were popular in the beginning, but it’s all leveled out now.

For the individual heroes, too, the events on the servers will be analyzed in detail and then a decision made as to whether adjustments are necessary, and if so, which ones.
