First look at The Sims 5? – EA unveils Project Rene!
At today’s “Behind The Sims Summit” there was not only all sorts of information about the free-to-play launch of The Sims 4, including the prospect of two new expansion packs, but also an insight into the “future of The Sims.” This future is currently known as “Project Rene” and has not previously been directly referred to as The Sims 5, but as the “next generation of Sims games”.
Next generation of The Sims is in early development.
In the stream itself, we already got a little teaser about what to expect from Project Rene. Among other things, it will probably become easier to share your own designs with friends, making it easier to work together. The short clip mainly focused on the different systems that players use to create their houses and other things. At first glance, these appear to be much more sophisticated than the variant from The Sims 4 (buy now €8.71)So players will probably be able to create very unique things in Project Rene.
Players can also decorate rooms and the like directly in Project Rene, which even works with crossplay. All in all, the title seems to focus a lot on the social multiplayer aspect, because we haven’t gotten a look at the eponymous Sims yet. While the footage on display already looks quite impressive, it will still be a few years before gamers get their hands on the finished product.
“Over the next few years we’ll be keeping you all updated on Project Rene. We’ll be reporting on the progress of the work and giving you behind-the-scenes insights. We’ll also begin to offer early access to Project Rene to small groups over time It’s super early for us and we’ve never shared information about our games years before they release, but we’re really excited to take you on this journey.”
However, until Project Rene is released to the public in a few years, the studio plans to continue supporting The Sims 4. As already mentioned, the title can now be downloaded completely free of charge, and a discount campaign is also currently running, in which the numerous DLCs of the game have been greatly reduced.
