Silent Hill 2 Remake will initially be released as a console exclusive for PS5

It’s all about this: In the so-called “Silent Hill Transmission” we learned that the rumors about the Silent Hill 2 remake are true. Not only is the new edition in the works, but also, as already rumored, at Bloober Team. The development team is known for the Layers of Fear series, among other things.

The remake is created there in close cooperation with veteranswho worked on the original. Concept artist Masahiro Ito and composer Akira Yamaoka are back on board. In addition, the recast, as far as consoles are concerned, time exclusive for PS5 appear. There will also be a PC version.

Silent Hill 2 was fondly remembered and made it into our subjective best horror games list. If you want to know where, take a look:

The second part of the series originally appeared in 2001 for the PS2, later versions for PC and Xbox followed. As in the remake, we slipped into the role of James Sunderland, who ended up in the mysterious town of Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his wife, Mary.

The curious thing about it: she’s been dead for quite some time. And that’s by no means the only strange thing about it. During his search, James not only meets opaque characters, but is also attacked by surreal monsters. Besides the fights, in which we often felt quite defenseless, we solved a variety of puzzles to help James on his mission.

It remains to be seen whether the remake manages to capture the very special dark, melancholic, creepy atmosphere that fans still love for the original. We can be excited. However, there is no release date yet.

More Silent Hill games

In addition to the remake, two other completely new games for the R brand were announced in the live stream: Silent Hill: Townfall and Silent Hill f. However, these are still quite mysterious.

How do you like the remake and what are your hopes for it?
