Streamer Staiy rages against Twitch in the video and wants to switch to YouTube
Twitch plans to cut revenue for major streamers in 2023. Staiy is now making a clear announcement to the platform and is threatening to leave Twitch.
Magdeburg – In the last few weeks, Twitch has once again caused one wave of criticism after the next. After the platform initially caused beaming faces with the casino ban, the euphoria among the streamers quickly subsided. Twitch intends to cut revenue from subscriptions. One of the largest German streamers has had enough of it and is threatening to leave the platform.

This Twitch star wants to leave the platform: The Twitch star is Staiy. Born in Magdeburg, he is currently 15th in Watchtime and 13th in the average viewers on Twitch (as of September 30th, 2022). This makes him one of the heavyweights on Amazon’s streaming platform in Germany. However, that could change soon. MontanaBlack is also considering leaving Twitch.

That’s why Staiy wants to go: At the end of September, Twitch announced that it would cut revenue from top streamers. What didn’t sound bad for many fans at first, however, has more implications than it first appeared. Here we explain why it is problematic that Twitch cuts the revenue. The changed regulation is also the reason why Staiy wants to leave the platform.

That’s why Staiy is so angry: Staiy explained in a stream why he wanted to leave Twitch. He revealed that the new rule would save him about $50,000 a year. To compensate for the collapse in revenue from subs, Twitch is now offering 55% participation through the advertising rewards program. In Staiy’s case, he would need to stream 109 hours a month and show 3 minutes of ads per hour to make $1,164 a month. It doesn’t take a math genius to realize that the streamer would make a minus here.
What’s worse for Staiy: the platform’s austerity measures are being passed on to viewers. “If only that was on my wallet I’d say okay F it Digga” he says. He further elaborates: “What they’re trying to do here is give you, when you come into the stream, these snotty, unreadable adverts that I don’t get at all from […]reintroduce“.

Twitch does not do the same work as streamers: According to Staiy, Twitch itself has not contributed as much to the success of the platform as the streamers. Specifically, he asks “How do you contribute to the collective success of the platform when the streamer is not live?For Staiy the answer is clear: not at all. Staiy makes a clear announcement to Twitch: For Staiy it is clear that if nothing changes in the revenue regulation, he will leave the platform in 2023. Nevertheless, he has a clear message to Twitch. In his opinion, a fair distribution of income would be 80/20 and in selected cases 95/5. Until the platform offers something similar, he will be streaming on multiple platforms at the same time. Whether he will be the only one to leave Twitch remains to be seen.
