a flop? Uncharted on PC isn’t selling well

Review of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection - also a masterpiece on the PC! (1)

More and more titles that are actually exclusive to PlayStation are now finding their way onto the PC. Popular games like God of War and Spider-Man Remastered have recently been joined by the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which combines both Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in one bundle. In contrast to other Sony titles, the Uncharted bundle has not been particularly successful so far.

Steam players may not be interested in the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection

As VGC notedUncharted could only manage a player record of almost 11,000 userswhich is well below the records of titles like Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of Warand Spider-Man Remastered lies. These were all able to attract more than 50,000 simultaneously active players. Also, these games set their records pretty much right after release, since the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection launch weekend (buy now / €44.99 ) is now behind us, it seems unlikely that these numbers will change significantly.

There could be various reasons for the title’s moderate success. Not only is Uncharted 4 the oldest Sony title to get a PC port, but starting with the fourth installment in a series might not seem particularly appealing to pure PC gamers. Unlike God of War, Horizon, and the other PC ports, with Uncharted 4 it’s relatively important to have played the predecessors in order to fully understand the game’s plot. Unfortunately, Naughty Dog itself recently announced that the first three offshoots of the Uncharted series will probably never be released for the PCwhich doesn’t make the PC version of Uncharted 4 any more attractive.

Also, the Legacy of Thieves Collection was released at a very competitive time. Games like Gotham Knights, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and the Modern Warfare 2 campaign have also been released alongside Sony’s PC port. Presumably these games, along with the enduring popularity of titles like Counter Strike and Dota, helped Steam achieve a record over 30 million active users. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that a game that’s now six years old should go down a bit alongside these brand new releases.
