Who is this person in the picture? Unimportant! Every player should be able to follow Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.

As early as 2018, developer BioWare announced the then nameless Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in a first teaser. Some time has passed since then, during which the direction of the game has changed, among other things: A planned multiplayer element has probably been completely canceled. Except for short teasers and the announcement of the title, there has been little new information about the fourth offshoot of the RPG series since then. Now the team is reporting with an update that gives hope. The game is now playable “from the opening scenes of the first mission to the end”.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf reaches Alpha milestone

Before you pull out the credit cards for the pre-order, but a small damper: Of course, that doesn’t mean that the game is really almost finished. Like BioWare but in a new one blog entry declared, Dreadwolf has reached the Alpha milestone. In plain language, this means that the complete framework of the game is in place, including dialogues, missions and characters.

Lots of work to do: As General Manager Gary McKay notes in the blog post, the game is still a long way from completion. Now it’s all about optimizing the graphics and further developing gameplay elements. The team also plans to gather feedback through internal playtesting, such as how well the story pace and character relationship development feels while playing. Accordingly, there are still many months of work ahead of the team.

A little teaser: However, there is also a brief preview of what awaits us. McKay explains that he’s excited to show fans new parts of the world, including Minrathous, the capital of the Tevinter Empire:

We’ve talked about Minrathous in previous games, and now you can finally visit! It’s a city built on magic and the way that reflects that in its visual identity and how that makes it look different from other cities we’ve been to Dragon Age have met so far is quite spectacular.

What do we know about the release of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf? Unfortunately, there is no update on the release period of the game in the blog entry. So far there is only one insider statement that a release in the second half of 2023 would at least be possible. At least there was enough time to catch up with the predecessors. Although that’s not absolutely necessary, because Dreadwolf is intended to be understandable even for complete newcomers, although it brings back well-known characters.
