There will be a fourth season of The Witcher on Netflix – unfortunately without Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. Netflix has now confirmed that. But Cavill already has a successor.
Netflix has confirmed Season 4 of The Witcher and announced Henry Cavill’s departure from the series. Season 3 hasn’t aired on the streaming service yet, but confirmation has been received that Liam Hemsworth will replace Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in Season 4. Chris Hemsworth’s brother is best known for his role as Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games film series.
Henry Cavill praises his successor
Henry Cavill recently announced his return to the role of Superman for DC. In a statement, he praised his successor: “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventure, and sadly I will be laying down my medallion and swords for Season 4.” He went on to say, “In my place will be the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth as White Wolf. As with the greatest characters in literature, I pass the torch in awe of the time I have spent impersonating Geralt, and excited to see how Liam will portray this most intriguing and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, there is such wonderful depth to this character, it’s fun to dive in and see what you can find.”
Hemsworth returned the compliment in a statement of his own: “As a Witcher fan, I am over the moon to have the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill was an incredible Geralt and I’m honored to have him put my hands on the reins and allowed me to take the blades of the White Wolf for the next chapter of his adventure.” Hemsworth continued, “Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you’ve made of this beloved character. I may have big shoes to fill, but I’m really excited to step into the world of The to enter Witcher.”
