In the second part of the Nordic series, you can now decide for yourself which armor you like best on Kratos.

Already in the middle of next week we can again shred our way through all kinds of Draugr and gods with Kratos and Atreus in God of War Ragnarök. On the official Discord by Santa Monica Studiosthe developer of the game, Combat Design Lead Mihir Sheth has now unveiled a new feature that fans will definitely be excited about: Transmog for Kratos’ armor.

What is that?

Put simply, in Ragnarök we can Finally dressing Kratos the way we want. The armor transmog means we can, for example, equip the armor with the best stats, but customize the visuals to how we like it best.

So if we’re particularly fond of armor, we don’t have to sacrifice it for better stats in Ragnarök, but can make the new armor look as fancy as the previous one. At the same time, Kratos no longer has to wear ugly armor, probably in his own interest.

Mihir Sheth hasn’t revealed exactly what that will look like in the game, so we’ll have to wait for the release next week.

If you want to hear more about Kratos and his Boy Atreus in preparation, you can check out Michi’s fresh (and spoiler-free) first impression of the full version here:

A little more trivia on the term transmog: It is an abbreviation for the even more complicated word transmogrification and means something like “wonderful transformation” in humanism. That’s exactly what your character’s armor gets. And honestly, who wouldn’t associate a miraculous transformation with grumpy Kratos?

Transmog is (fortunately) becoming more and more common

God of War Ragnarok is no exception with this feature. To the delight of many players, it is appearing in more and more games. So there was the optically adapted armor, among others, in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey and was recently also Cyberpunk 2077 added with the 1.6 update.

God of War Ragnarok will be released on November 9th for the PS4 and PS5a PC version could follow next year, but this has not yet been confirmed.

Our test will be published on November 3 at 5 p.mso be sure to keep an eye out for it on Thursday.

Are you also transmog fans? Is the appearance of your character important to you or can you do without it?
