Dead by Daylight: New Mori animation is more gruesome than Jon Snow's murder

The knight soon murders in Dead by Daylight. When he executes someone, it’s pretty sinister… and not for the faint of heart!

In Dead by Daylight it’s about surviving against the killer – or just “cleaning up” properly as a killer and eliminating the other players. There are several ways to do this. Mostly this happens at the Fleischerhaken with a long sacrificial process, but there are also the so-called “Moris”. And the next killer, the Knight, has a pretty sinister Mori that even makes the killing of Jon Snow in Game of Thrones humane.

What is a “mori”? The term “mori” comes from the offering “memento mori” – which killers in Dead by Daylight can use to gain the right to directly murder one or more survivors – with their own hands. Each killer has their own special animation that suits their character. For example, Michael Myers uses his knife, which he sinks into the victim’s chest, the witch rips out her victim’s entrails and eats them.

This is what the Mori looks like from the knight: When the knight starts his Mori animation, the whole thing is more like a pretty nasty beating action.

The knight points his sword at the survivor and summons all three guardians at the same time, which are used in turn.

The Assassin picks the survivor up by the chin and rams the dagger into their side, only to hand it directly to the laughing Jailer, who presses his branding iron to the survivor’s neck.

As if that wasn’t enough of the torture, the Carnivex comes along and drives his big hatchet deep into the survivor’s right shoulder.

Only now does the knight, who has been watching benevolently, begin to move.

The greatsword is raised and rammed into the survivor’s chest from above the neck before the blade is pulled out with a firm jerk – and the survivor is finally released from the ordeal.

The only thing missing is that the individual guards quietly say “For the guard…”.

By the way: The way killers “earn” their Mori could soon change. Because the developers have plans to make the Mori the brilliant finale of a match.

This is the community reaction: The Mori animations are always a hot topic of discussion in the community and are quite popular. The more brutal and cruel, the better – after all, Dead by Daylight often alludes to bloodthirsty slasher films that thrive on such effects. The reactions to the Mori animation on YouTube are correspondingly positive:

  • “This is really a fantastic Mori. I didn’t think other beings would join in.”
  • “The coolest Mori in the game so far. Increases my anticipation to finally play this killer.”
  • “Like the streamer Otzdarva said, this doesn’t look like a Mori, more like a ‘Fatality’.”
  • “The perfect verdict for a trolling survivor.”

What do you think of the knight’s Mori animation? A cool way to knock a survivor out of a match? Or are the developers overdoing it here with the bloodlust?
