The CEO of Lionsgate is considering a AAA game based on the popular John Wick franchise. Although John Wick has appeared in several games before, this could be the first time Keanu Reeves’ main character has made it to the gaming world in his own AAA title.

During a earnings call With investors, Jon Feltheimer, CEO of Lionsgate Studios, said that Lionsgate executives have been submitting proposals for the development of a big AAA game with John Wick dressed up. As the project appears to be in its early stages, Feltheimer kept details sparse, saying: “I don’t want to get ahead of myself here, but we think a great AAA game can be made with ‘John Wick’. We have been submitting proposals. We’re certainly interested in moving that forward, but I don’t want to say any more about that at this point.”.

Feltheimer went on to discuss the potential for more future John Wick properties and praised the John Wick filmmakers for keeping the franchise lucrative, successful, alive, and important with the first three films grossing over $500 million combined. Although a dedicated John Wick game already exists in Mike Bithell’s standalone John Wick Hex, this entry offers small-scale strategy gameplay, as opposed to the big-budget AAA officially licensed title that could soon be on sale.

The high-octane gunplay and expertly choreographed fight scenes that John Wick has become famous for seem like a perfect fit for a great action game, and this is a project that fans have been eagerly awaiting. This would be very interesting as with current graphics engine technology this would be great. However, with the current installments of the franchise we can see not only a John Wick game, if this happens and it is successful, its sequels could follow.
