Star Trek Picard Season 3: Final Season has launch date and stays on Amazon Prime

The third season of Star Trek: Picard has been off for a long time, now there is a German start date for the science fiction series on February 17th. The final season, which brings back Riker, Troi, Worf, Crusher, La Forge and Data’s brother Lore in addition to Picard, also remains with Amazon Prime. The streaming service recently announced this in a press release. Viewers had feared in advance that the final season could end up on Paramount+ and that they would have to subscribe to another streaming provider for Picard Season 3.

Patrick Stewart made it clear some time ago that the third Picard season would also be the last. It will again consist of ten episodes and will be broadcast weekly from February 17th. As usual, the individual episodes appear just one day after the US release.

Star Trek Picard Season 3: Controversial among fans, but promises of a restart

Fans have had mixed feelings about the previous seasons of Star Trek: Picard. Poor screenplays, story arcs that have fizzled out, the portrayal of established characters that is far removed from character, continuity errors and a propensity for violence that is incompatible with Star Trek values ​​stirred up temper. Season 3 is therefore again a restart in the house. Means: Figures like Elnor and Rios are deleted and in return the old guard is brought up again.

Joining Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard and Jery Ryan as Seven of Nine are LeVar Burton as Geordi La Forge, Michael Dorn as Worf, Jonathan Frakes as William Riker, Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher and Marina Sitis reprise their roles as Deanna Troi. Brent Spiner will appear at least as Data’s brother Lore, along with Daniel Davis as holographic Professor Moriarty and Michelle Hurd, known from the first two seasons, as Commander Raffi Musik.

Star Trek Picard Season 3: New Voice Actors, Paramount+ with Strange New Worlds

Amazon Prime will probably be offering a German dubbed version right in time for the start of the season. However, German-speaking viewers have to adapt to changes. Raimund Krone, the distinctive German voice of Michael Dorn aka Worf, passed away in 2021. In addition, Detlef Bierstedt, who voiced Riker in all appearances in Star Trek series and Star Trek: Meeting of the Generations, retired earlier this year.

In the US, Star Trek: Picard is one of the Paramount+ originals, along with Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Lower Decks. In Germany, Paramount+ will only be launched on December 8th, the rights to Lower Decks and Picard will remain with Amazon for the time being. Discovery, which initially ran on Netflix in Germany, is also coming to the new streaming service in Germany. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will also be available on Paramount+ starting December 8th. Although season 1 of the series about Captain Pike has long been running in the USA, two episodes a week are published in Germany.
