Atomic Heart will be released in February 2022.

It has been known for a few days that Atomic Heart will be released on February 21, 2023. And with that, at least for me, the waiting time for a game is slowly but surely coming to an end, which, due to its design, is one of the interesting upcoming titles, but on the other hand is still a bit of a mystery. Because the shooter, which takes place in an alternative universe during the zenith of the Soviet Union, has already shown numerous spectacular action scenes, but I can’t really make sense of the big picture yet.

But one thing is becoming increasingly clear to me: Because when I look at the current boss fight video from IGN, I believe more and more that Atomic Heart will actually be such a technology grenade as the previous trailers have already indicated.

Tobias Veltin

Tobias Veltin has been an editor at GamePro since 2009. His favorite genres are shooters and racing games, and apart from video games, games are his great passion. He loves soccer and billiards and is constantly expanding his board game collection. Incidentally, it has nothing to do with the beer brand of the same name. Unfortunately.

This bullet is giving us real hell

The almost ten-minute gameplay video shows a fight against a huge metal ball. This makes hell hot for the character in a round arena with various attacks, for example trying to roll over or crush them with stomping attacks.

And apart from the generally very cool design of the adversary, I notice once again how great Atomic Heart looks. Be it the detailed environments, the plasticity of objects and enemies, or the numerous particle effects: if the finished game actually brings such a graphic impact to the screen and still runs smoothly, it will probably play in the very top ranks of technology.

With all the anticipation of a possible graphic spectacle, it is of course clear to me that the game first has to meet the now fairly high expectations and prove that it can really keep these graphic promises.

This is Atomic Heart

The title is often referred to as “Future Bioshock”, which is related not only to the perspective but also to the gameplay of the game. Because, as the boss fight video shows, your own character not only uses numerous ballistic weapons and melee weapons, but also uses telekinesis or certain elemental powers, for example.

But the story also makes you curious: As a Russian secret agent, you must look after a secret research facility after things went wrong there and the robots created there took control. And as the bullet opponent already suggests, you can probably expect numerous other crazy enemies there.
