Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 broke the series’ sales record in its first few days. However, the reviews of the game are not all good.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released in late October. Although it bears the same title as the game released in 2009, it is not a remake. Publisher Activision has now announced that the latest “CoD” part has broken the previous sales record for the series. “Modern Warfare 2” has therefore generated sales of a whopping 800 million US dollars just three days after its release. This trumps the previous leader Modern Warfare 3, which was released in 2011 and brought in 775 million.

However, a look at the game reviews shows that the game is not well received by everyone. One reason for this is that shortly after the release, Modern Warfare 2 crashes more frequently.

“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2”: This is how the ratings turn out

Basically, the new “Call of Duty” offers what players expect: smooth, fast and above all entertaining gameplay. In addition, the multiplayer is again quite extensive – even if many fans are still waiting for the start of “Warzone 2”. However, both PC and console players complain that “Modern Warfare 2” is still causing frequent crashes. This is one of the most common points of criticism on the Metacritic rating portal and on the Steam gaming platform. In addition, many players are surprised that hardcore mode is not yet available in multiplayer. As a result, the reviews for “Modern Warfare 2” are currently rather mixed – both among the players and in the specialist magazines. Here is an overview of the current Metacritic ratings:

Fans remain loyal to “Call of Duty” – despite the reviews

In principle, “Call of Duty” can be compared to “FIFA”: Even if a new part appears every year and fans have a lot to criticize, that changes very little in terms of sales and player numbers. The number of players in the new “Warzone 2”, which starts on November 16th, will certainly skyrocket at the beginning – especially because it’s free to play.
