What changes in LoL patch 12.22?
Season 13 preseason kicks off with mega changes
With the Season 12 Ranked Race ending in LoL Patch 12.21, Riot is gearing up for the big League of Legends Season 13 update. Preseason kicks off with LoL patch 12.22, as the developers roll out most of the changes for the coming year.
League of Legends Season 13 changes will go live in LoL patch 12.22.
This includes overhauls to top lane and jungle – the former getting a facelift to make the role more appealing, while the latter should be easier for new players to pick up. There are a number of quality of life changes that will also reduce the LoL learning curve a bit.
New elements are on the way, primarily focused on reinforcing the tank archetype, but the return of Rod of Ages will certainly turn heads. The Chemtech Dragon is back, jungle pets have been added, and more. Be sure to check out our hub for all the changes ahead of LoL patch 12.22.
Rakan and Lillia reclassified as melee champions
However, just because the preseason is starting doesn’t mean Riot is neglecting the balance of the rest of the game. The League of Legends developers are starting to implement changes that they didn’t want any closer to the end of Season 12, and it starts with a reclassification of some champions.
Rakan and Lillia, due to the power of items and runes, have been considered ranged champions. This has made their lives a bit more difficult, as popular items like Relic Shield and Demonic Embrace, for each champion respectively, were weaker despite their short range.
However, that is changing in LoL patch 12.22 with both champions are now classified as melee champions. Lillia is getting a slight defensive nerf, but is overwhelmed by the possibilities these buffs open up for her.
