Call of Duty Warzone will live on as Warzone Caldera in the future

With the start of Warzone 2, the previous Call of Duty Warzone will not simply be stamped out.

As publisher Activision has now announced, it lives on separately under the name Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera.

What is Warzone Caldera?

After the launch of Warzone 2 you have the choice between this and Warzone Caldera.

Warzone 2 weapons, progression and inventory system are linked to the content and systems of the new Modern Warfare 2.

“The reason for this is a combination of community feedback, technical limitations and the need to simplify the next and newest Warzone to create a seamless gameplay experience,” it says.

Here’s what to expect from Warzone Caldera:

• Player progression, cross-progression for XP and weapon XP, inventory, Battle Bass Pass content, weapons, store bundles, and other purchases from Modern Warfare, Warzone, Black Ops Cold War, and Vanguard are in Warzone Caldera and their respective games available.
• A default battle royale playlist will be available.
• New content from Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, including new Battle Passes and Store Bundles, are not available.
• Double XP tokens cannot be transferred between Warzone and Warzone Caldera.
• Warzone Caldera does not have an in-game store, but COD Points are transferrable between all games.
• Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep are not available after starting Warzone Caldera.

For fans of smaller Battle Royale maps, “exciting developments” are promised in future Warzone 2 seasons.

When does Warzone Caldera start?

You can play Warzone as usual until November 16 at around 5 p.m. before the servers go offline. Warzone 2 will be released around 7 p.m.

First of all, the teams and studio development resources are focused on launching Warzone 2 and making sure everything runs smoothly. There is also a small break over Thanksgiving for the developers.

Warzone Caldera should then be available from November 28, 2022 from around 7 p.m.
