Warzone is dead, long live Warzone! If you’re wondering what’s actually going to happen to Warzone 1 when Warzone 2.0 launches in a few days, you’ve come to the right place. If you don’t feel like switching yet, you can rest easy: Warzone returns as “Warzone: Caldera” after a relaunch, albeit with some drawbacks. But with Warzone 2 you get a huge new Battle Royale overall package.

Warzone goes offline for 12 days at Warzone 2 launch

Warzone 2 is coming! The successor to Call of Duty Warzone starts on November 16th. It’s called Warzone 2.0, offers a completely new map and lots of new features. For example, you can use your primary weapons from Modern Warfare 2, interrogate enemies and fight in fours in the gulag. Here you can find the latest information about it:

What will happen to Warzone 1? The previous Call of Duty Warzone does not completely disappear from the scene. However, the launch of Warzone 2.0 will be offline for a short time. This should ensure a smooth launch of the successor. After a Thanksgiving break, there will be a relaunch in a slightly different form – assuming that everything goes according to plan.

  • On November 16th at around 5 p.m. CET the old Warzone will go offline.
  • Around 7 p.m. on November 16, Warzone 2.0 will be released.
  • On November 28th Warzone: Caldera is scheduled to return at around 7 p.m.

That means you 12 days without the old map have to get by. the time will according to Activision used to stabilize the Warzone 2.0 ecosystem and give developers a well-deserved holiday break.

Warzone Caldera loses several maps

How is this continuing? After the relaunch, the old Warzone will officially be called Call of Duty Warzone Caldera. However, some things are missing. There will no longer be an in-game store and the two smaller maps Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep will disappear, you can no longer play them (but Warzone 2 should provide a replacement in future seasons).

The two Warzone games then exist strictly separately from each other. As announced, you can transfer CoD points, but no XP tokens, skins, bundles, operators, camos or other content. Activations in Warzone 2 or MW2 bring you nothing in Warzone Caldera. After all, all Warzone players will receive “some items” that they can also use in Warzone 2.
