Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has nearly outsold Vanguard in Europe

It seems that the FPS Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has dominated the UK physical sales charts since its release, but is also a huge success across Europe. GSD physical and digital sales data for October 2022 revealed that the sequel and FIFA 23 caused game sales to increase 1.5 percent from October 2021.

As reported GamesIndustrythe sales of the first week of Modern Warfare 2 were about 125 percent higher than Call of Duty: Vanguard from last year. However, in just two weeks, the former is already close to outselling the latter’s lifetime sales in markets across Europe. It is already the third best-selling title of the year, behind Elden Ring Y FIFA 23.

Other new releases include Gotham Knights fourth, which was launched in a window similar to Guardians of the Galaxy and had 13 percent lower sales in two weeks. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope it ranked fifth, selling 7.5 percent more units than its predecessor. A Plague Tale: Requiemit was in 12th place, with sales falling 12 percent from the first game.

In total, 11.9 million games were sold in Europe during the month, with 6.84 million sold through digital download stores. The physical retail market saw a 13 percent year-over-year decline.
