Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has had a great start. But the release state is not well received by many players. The shooter is sometimes referred to as “beta” because it lacks many of the standard features that have always been there in recent years.
What a release: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 pulverizes the old player record for the release of a CoD premium title. They were able to attract 40% more players to the release than ever before.
What is the problem? The success was not without consequences: Especially the first weekend after the release, the servers were shaky and crashes were the order of the day. Everything works better now and the focus shifts to the content for the release.
Because there are many experienced players who are dissatisfied with the state of CoD MW2 in the current pre-season. Features are missing that actually belong to the standard repertoire of every CoD title – whether for release or at the end of the life cycle.
CoD MW2 on release – players call it “Beta”
With a view to the big Battle Royale Warzone 2.0, which comes as a Free2Play expansion for CoD MW2, some even go so far and call Modern Warfare 2 a beta for Warzone after the release:
“The game I bought for $70 turns out to be a beta for a Free2Play BR” – headlines Reddit user “r4bb1th0l3z”, hitting a nerve. After just 11 hours, the post has around 2,800 upvotes and over 450 comments (as of 11/11/22 – 11:15 a.m.).
A few days earlier, “thecloudbruh” spoke in another thread about features that are missing in CoD MW2 after the release – although they are usually always there at the start (via reddit.com):
- hardcore mode
- business cards
- Customizable crosshair
The disappointment can be felt in the thread creator thecloudbruh. He captioned it: “I love the gameplay. But the state of the game is unacceptable.” It even says he’s addicted to CoD – he needs that as an “escape” in his life.
This thread also garnered more than 400 comments – and many agree that the current state of pre-season is worth their criticism.
Does all of this still come into play? Yes, with the start of Season 1, the situation should relax a bit. Hardcore comes into play, statistics can also be viewed soon and countless unlockable objects apart from weapon camouflages are also planned via the new prestige system.
How do you feel about the topic? Season 1 starts on November 16th and the pre-season will then run for about 3 weeks. Is it okay if the usual core features are missing for the release, but the focus is on performance? Leave a comment on the topic.
