RTX 4080: EK Waterblocks with a new cooler for MSI's Gaming (X) Trio and Suprim (X)

from Maximilian Hohm
EK Waterblocks has introduced a new water block designed for both MSI’s Gaming (X) Trio and the Suprim-X models. It will be available from December with RGB lighting, a black anodized backplate and the EK Matrix 7 standard. Therefore, read more about the new water cooler and a possible alternative below if you are considering a Geforce RTX 4080.

Custom water cooling is the most effective approach for PC enthusiasts to achieve a quiet and cool PC at the same time. They make it possible to overclock the existing hardware to the maximum with a high cooling capacity without becoming uncomfortably loud. Graphics cards in particular, which have been consuming more and more power in recent years, benefit from water cooling. So does the RTX 4000 series from Nvidia. In the meantime, several water coolers for different designs of the Geforce RTX 4090 have been presented and the first coolers can already be purchased.

Arctic MX-6: New thermal compound introduced

EK Waterblocks has now introduced the new Quantum Vector² Trio RTX 4080 D-RGB, which, as the name suggests, is designed for the upcoming Geforce RTX 4080, which is scheduled to be launched next week. However, the cooler is not built for the Founders Edition, but explicitly for MSI’s high-end custom models. It should fit the Geforce RTX 4080 Gaming (X) Trio and the Suprim (X) models. This in turn would mean that the PCBs of these two cards must be largely identical.

EK delivers the water cooler with an anodized black aluminum backplate and describes the design as minimalist. The cooler, together with its eleven millimeter thick cold plate, covers the entire PCB and can be illuminated by 15 LEDs via a 3-pin RGB header. The Geforce RTX logo is magnetic and, in addition to hiding the terminal’s screws, it can be mounted differently depending on the orientation of the graphics card, so that the aesthetics are always right.

The new water block is not yet listed in the PCGH price comparison and can be ordered directly from EK Water Blocks can be pre-ordered at an RRP of EUR 264.90. Users who do not want to convert the high-end custom models to water cooling can already pre-order the already presented EK Quantum Vector² FE RTX 4080 D-RGB, which was built for Nvidia’s Founders Edition and costs 239.90 euros in the PCGH price comparison is listed.
