Batman's legendary voice actor Kevin Conroy is dead

After a brief battle with cancer, Kevin Conroy, best known for his portrayal of Batman in the Batman animated series and the Arkham games, has died at the age of 66.

Conroy’s acting career began in the ’70s, in 1992 he landed the role in Batman: The Animated Series.

A popular voice

He voiced Batman in 85 episodes of the series, which ran through 1995. He later voiced the hero in various other media as well, including 15 films. His performance has made him a fan favorite since he first appeared as Batman.

As far as video games are concerned, he not only voiced Batman in the Arkham trilogy, but also in Injustice or most recently in MultiVersus.


“His iconic portrayal of Batman will forever remain among the greatest portrayals of the Dark Knight in any medium,” Warner Bros. said in a statement. “We send our warmest thoughts to his loved ones and join fans around the world in honoring his legacy.”

Mark Hamill, who frequently voices Batman’s Joker, wrote: “Kevin was perfection. He was one of my favorite people on the planet and I loved him like a brother. He really cared about those around him – his grace shone through everything, what he did. Every time I saw him or talked to him, it lifted my spirits.”

Conroy is survived by husband Vaughn C. Williams, sister Trisha Conroy, and brother Tom Conroy.
