Assassin's Creed Valhalla Developers Say "This Announcement Will Disappoint"

In a recent blog post, Ubisoft has announced various news about Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, at least one of which the fans should not like at all. Because unlike previous parts of the series, the developers do not see themselves in a position to implement a New Game + mode in the game environment in a meaningful way.

Team feels unable to deliver a “worthwhile” experience

As justification, the team writes:
Community feedback is what constantly drives us to improve the gaming experience. Since the release of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was created as a unique experience, structurally very different from previous Assassin’s Creed installments, offering new ways to engage with the world and its characters. As we explored the possibility of implementing New Game+, we realized that due to the depth of the game, we had very limited ability to make a replay worthwhile or even special for you.

We understand that this news is disappointing, but we hope that the new content released over the past few months – including unprecedented experiences like The Forgotten Saga – will provide an exciting and challenging addition for those who want repeatable content.

While we will not be adding New Game+ to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, more content will be added before it ends.

The developers justify the decision against a New Game+, which the fans often want, with the fact that such a mode would not feel worthwhile enough because of the structure of the game. The fact that Ubisoft itself admits that it cannot make a “repeat playthrough” “something special” may give some fans a stale aftertaste.

After all, there is also good news: Because there is finally a release date for title update 1.6.2, which, among other things, should bring the saga of Eivor to a “touching and intimate conclusion”. According to Ubisoft, the corresponding patch will be released on December 6, 2022. So fans won’t have to wait too long until they can experience the grand finale of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
