Mortal Kombat 11 is over three years old at this point, which means that questions about what NetherRealm Studios will introduce as its next big project are being asked more frequently.

In the past we have heard the rumor of a new Marvel vs DC game but this is just a dream. However, Ed Boon recently confirmed in a Twitter that the studio’s next game will be Injustice 3 or Mortal Kombat 12.

In response to another question, Boon also suggested that more characters introduced in the 3D-era games of the Mortal Kombat series will get a lot more attention “soon”, which could suggest that Mortal Kombat 12 is on the way for the developer.

The Game Awards is just around the corner and no one knows if the surprise of the event will be the reveal of Injustice 3 or Mortal Kombat 12.
