When is GTA 6 coming out? Even Microsoft believes it will be released in 2024

The release date of GTA 6 has not yet been officially announced. But there are many rumours. Even Microsoft assumes that Grand Theft Auto VI will be ready in 2024. They say so officially.

What’s going on in GTA VI? Rockstar Games has not yet released any new information about the game. Just a few months ago, in September 2022, there was a mega leak that showed tons of GTA 6 gameplay. However, probably from early development phases.

In a statement about the purchase of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft now mentioned when they expect the title to be released.

GTA in 2024? Statement to the supervisory authority

This is what Microsoft says: Microsoft recently made a statement to the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) about its proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard. By the way, the window for a release of GTA 6 was confirmed.

In the statement (via service.gov.uk) Microsoft states that Activision Blizzard’s games do not account for such a large part of the market as to damage the competition. They also bring up other big games and publishers like Take-Two Interactive, the publishers of Rockstar games.

In the statement, Microsoft downplays the value of Call of Duty, but mentions GTA 6 as one of the big games the gaming community is expecting.

When making the statement, Microsoft refers to an article by tech radar, which summarizes the “Leaks, News and Rumors” about GTA 6. And there, in turn, reports from former Rockstar employees and analysts are quoted, who assume a release in 2024.

How do you classify that? Microsoft’s statement can be interpreted in different ways. Maybe you as a platform operator have insider knowledge and can therefore make a statement about the release year. Or maybe they just use what the community expects from leaks and insider reports as the release date. And there’s a lot to be said for a release in 2024. But that’s not official.

Still, it’s important to note that Microsoft made such a statement in a publicly available report.
