Pokémon Crimson & Purple: Lousy technology - and still I buy the switch game (1)

Takaya Imamura is best known for his work on two major Nintendo series. After all, we got the Fox designs from him Star Fox and Captain Falcon from F-Zero to thank. Now he’s making a name for himself again, even if it won’t be directly connected to Nintendo. Putting aside the fact that Nintendo’s two first-party IPs have been somewhat neglected in recent years, Imamura also owned the company almost two years ago leaving. Nonetheless, he’s back in action with a new game for the Switch set to release in 2023.

Through 4gamerstranslated by VGC, we learn that Imamura has published his own manga. at Omega 6 one recognizes his style immediately. The sci-fi story follows bounty hunters Thunder and Kaira as they travel through space in search of a new planet that could replace Earth. This new comic will now become a game. The self-explanatory title “Omega 6: The Video Game” will at Studio Happy Meal developed and should become a text adventure. But you don’t play the manga plot one to one, but you should experience your own original story in the same world.

Star Fox and F-Zero are missing

In addition to visual design for Fox and Falcon, Imamura also served as the games’ lead designer. Even if the calls from fans for new games in the classic series are still loud, things have been quiet about Star Fox and especially F-Zero for a long time. The last adventure with the space fox we experienced in 2016 on the Wii U in the form of Star Fox Zero.

But it wasn’t developed by Nintendo itself, but by Platinum Games. Unfortunately, the title was not the long-awaited success and bestseller and fell short of expectations.

F-Zero’s last part is now 18 years ago. In 2004 we had experienced Captain Falcon’s space race on the GBA, nowadays many probably only know him from Super Smash Bros.
