Teracrystallization is a powerful mechanic found in Pokémon Crimson and Crimson was newly introduced. It boosts the attacks of the Tera type your pocket monster belongs to. If you use them, this will be introduced by a dramatic cutscene in which your Pokémon is suddenly “crowned” and takes on a crystal look. However, if you apply it to Magikarp, then the scene seems somehow unintentionally funny.

Teracrystallization doesn’t always look spectacular

Magikarp has existed since the first generation and is also back in the ninth. The fish monster isn’t exactly the candidate you’re going to put on your team to win. Rather, it’s one of those Pokemon that you’re waiting for to evolve. Up to level 15, Crimson and Crimson have just one attack, Splash, which has no effect.

If you use the tera crystallization in the fight with Magikarp, it gets the crystal on top of it as normal – but this is then just on its side, just like the Pokémon itself. It’s almost as if the large crystal has knocked over Magikarp as it hops around like a fish out of water. The powerful tool somehow doesn’t work quite as it should.

Also, crystallization isn’t any more useful on this Pokemon than it looks, since it doesn’t have or learn any Water-type moves to boost (via Pokewiki). Poor thing! Reddit user sciorthings rightly asks the question when sharing the clip:

In the comments, other users are enthusiastic or amused that the crystal is lying sideways on the ground like the Pokémon. One person announces that they are also looking for unique tera crystallizations, another reports that Zwieps’ crystal is only on one head.

How about you guys: Have you spotted Pokemon that have teracrystallization that looks unusual or funny?
