Pokémon GO: Mysterious Wishes Season 9 brings new forms for Groudon and Kyogre

A new season called Mysterious Wishes begins in Pokémon GO. It is all about the Hoenn region and brings new mega developments and proto forms.

When does the new season start? “Mysterious Wishes” starts on December 1st, 2022, so already this Thursday. This was announced by the official Pokémon GO account on Twitter. It is expected to run until March 1st, 2023.

A new trailer has been released, which you can watch here:

Pokémon GO Season 9: Mysterious Wishes Trailer

The trailer shows: We see loads of Hoenn monsters and some kind of shooting star or comet flying through the sky, in keeping with the wish theme.

There are some exciting monsters to see. This includes:

  • Latias and Latios
  • Rayquaza
  • The new mega forms of the starters Sumpex, Gewaldro and Lohgock
  • Kyogre and Groudon – hinted at in their proto form at the very end.

We summarize everything known about the season so far.

What does Season 9 Mysterious Wishes bring to Pokémon GO?

Here we look in detail at already known content of the season. Not all information is known yet. This article will be updated once more details are clear.

Mega Raid Tag with Mega Sumpex, Gewaldro, Tancracker

Start with Mega Raid Tag: The season starts with an exciting event. On Saturday, December 3rd, 2022, there will be a Mega Raid Day featuring Mega Wriggle, Mega Blahjack, and Mega Sumpex.

All three forms are new and should be very popular as powerful attackers. Accordingly, you should enter December 3rd, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your calendar. After that, you should only get mega energy for the three again when the Hoenn tour starts.

The monsters will have the powerful Community Day Charge Attacks. There is also a ticket for about 5 euros that grants various bonuses. We have summarized all information about the Mega Raid Day in Pokémon GO here.

Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn

What is this event? There have already been two Pokémon GO Tour events: Kanto and Johto. Both brought basically all the monsters of these regions, lots of shinys, mysterious Pokemon and took place in spring.

The Hoenn tour will follow in 2023. There is no exact date yet, so the content is not yet known. It would be conceivable that Jirachi, also known as the wish Pokémon, would appear and, after Mew and Celebi, would go well with the other two tours. Trainers are already looking forward to this after a data mining find.

Protomorphosis in Kyogre and Groudon

What is that? The two legendary Pokémon Kyogre and Groudon are already among the best attackers in Pokémon GO, but their primeval proto-forms from the games Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are even stronger.

Both forms are briefly hinted at at the end of the trailer.

In the main games, the two monsters achieve these luminous, larger forms through “protomorphosis”, which requires certain gems.

How exactly the protomorphosis will be implemented in Pokémon GO is currently not known – or when. In view of the trailer, however, it should happen in this season. A release for the Hoenn tour would also be conceivable.
