New content in December: At the turn of the month there will be some new content in Pokémon GO. The Pokémon India Twitter account apparently shared an overview of the events, dates and bonuses in December too early, but withdrew the tweet (via reddit).

Apparently the information appeared too early. As a result, some content is already known, as is the research breakthrough in December.

What is the Research Breakthrough? The research breakthrough in Pokémon GO is achieved by collecting 7 weekly stamps by completing field research. You can get a stamp every day.

Usually, in Research Breakthrough, there is always a specific Pokémon that is swapped out monthly. Apparently it looks different this time.

This is how Pokémon GO’s December 2022 research breakthrough works

When is the breakthrough? According to the information known so far, the research breakthrough will start as usual on December 1st, but will then run until March 1st, 2023 – i.e. for a whole 3 months.

What’s in the breakthrough? There is apparently a change here too: According to the current status, there will be 6 possible Pokémon instead of just one.

It refers to:

• botogel: This does not appear all the time either, but mostly around the Christmas season. Botogel will also be available as a shiny.

• childworm: Not that rare anymore, but brings with it a very strong evolution in Brutalanda, which is one of the best attackers in the game and is always a good catch. Also available as Shiny.

• capuno: For a long time it was one of the rarest monsters of all, but it is now also more common. Nevertheless: An exciting catch for everyone who missed the little dragon.

• hairdresser: Is also possible as a shiny and is also something for collectors: There are different versions that you can snatch from the monster.

• Viscora: Evolves into Voscargot and Viscogon, but is also quite rare and can currently mainly be found via 10km Eggs. The dragon monster is not yet available as a shiny.

It currently looks as if the research breakthrough will take place in the form of a “lottery”: You will probably get one of these monsters at random for each research breakthrough. It remains to be seen how official information will explain the exact process.
