World of Warcraft Dragonflight, the ninth expansion of Blizzard’s MMORPG, will begin in a few hours. But how do you even start the new WoW addon? Is there a pre-quest? Where do you get to the Dragon Islands from?

Dragonflight Pre-Quest – What you need to do

Is there a pre-quest? Yes, there are – and you can handle them. Because calling Furorion (Alliance) and Sabellian (Horde) is already part of the “Dragonflight” campaign. If you’ve played the Dragonflight pre-event, then you’ve already completed this quest.

Otherwise, just take your character to Stormwind (Alliance) or Orgrimmar (Horde) and the quest should start automatically. The whole thing takes less than 5 minutes, you only have to talk to the dragons once, then recruit your explorers for the expedition and finally arrive at the port where Khadgar appears. Presumably watching the cutscenes takes longer than the actual questing.

You can easily check whether you have done everything in your quest log. Because there the following text should be found under the entry “The Dragonscale Expedition”:

“The campaign will continue when Dragonflight is released.”

If you see that in your quest log – great! You are ready to start on the Dragon Islands.

Journey to the Dragon Islands – Here’s how to get started

How to get to the Dragon Islands? In contrast to Shadowlands, this time there is no portal that takes you directly to the Dragon Islands, but you have to arrive in the classic way with a ship or a zeppelin.

The first time there will be a quest to accompany the expedition. It comes naturally – you accept a quest and just follow it.

If you want to travel to the Dragon Isles again later and don’t want to use a portal, here’s how:

• Alliance: The ship at the southernmost dock in Stormwind Harbor shuttles back and forth between the Dragon Isles and Stormwind City.
• Horde: The eastern zeppelin tower at the gates of Orgrimmar is your objective. The zeppelin arrives every few minutes, an NPC will give you the exact time.

Later you will also unlock a portal that you can then use from the portal rooms in Stormwind or Orgrimmar – as in all expansions so far.
