“Pokémon Crimson and Crimson” have some severe technical problems on Nintendo Switch. But it’s not just the console.

Of the Nintendo Switch is often accused of getting on in years. It is clear that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are in a different league in terms of performance. Rumors keep circulating that Nintendo also wants to launch a 4K-capable console, but the company hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet. The question of a Switch successor has now come up again because of “Pokémon Crimson and Crimson” because the game has enormous technical problems. But that’s not (only) the fault of the Nintendo Switch.

Pokémon Crimson and Crimson has many graphical glitches and performance issues

On the rating platform metacritic.com the new “Pokémon” editions currently have an extremely poor user score of 2.8 and 3.3. This is mainly due to the performance issues that bother the players. Since the release, numerous videos of bugs have been circulating on the Internet – not only graphic errors, but also severe drops in the frame rate reduce the fun of the Pokémon fans. A simple trick should help with technical problems in “Pokémon Crimson and Crimson”.

Pokémon Crimson and Crimson: Comparable open-world games run better on Nintendo Switch

The developer studio behind the “Pokémon” games, Game Freak, is increasingly criticized for the poor condition of the new games. Even if the Nintendo Switch is no longer technically up-to-date, other developers have managed to make comparable open-world titles run much better on the console – for example “Zelda: Breath of the Wild” or Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

Pokémon fans demand quality over quantity

For many fans it is clear that the studio Game Freak did not take the necessary time for the development. If you consider that the Pokémon part, “Pokémon Legends: Arceus”, was only released at the beginning of the year, this is a perfectly justified criticism. But it is doubtful that the developers will respond to the criticism if you look at the sales figures for “Pokémon Crimson and Crimson”: In the UK it was the second most successful release of a “Pokémon” game since Pokemon Sun and Moon. Players are now hoping that the developers will get the problems under control to some extent with updates. However, it is still unclear if and when this will happen.
